A downloadable game

South Fork is a summer vacation mystery set at the start of adulthood and on the end of Long Island. You play as April Loon, an 18-year-old woman preparing to start college while navigating her life after transition. You can spend time with family, reconnect with lost friends, pursue your music career, and solve the mystery of Montauk's missing kids. What more could you want?

I'm going to use Itch.io to post occasional updates and also record my thoughts as I work on the game. As long as I've been a writer, my creative process has been informed by self-reflection and internal monologue. This seems like the best place to capture that development as I work on South Fork.

April Loon is the protagonist of South Fork, but Montauk (and the surrounding area) plays a huge role as well. With that in mind, I close here with a brief poem by Walt Whitman. I suppose he loved Montauk as much as I do.

From Montauk Point (1892)

I stand as on some mighty eagle's beak,
Eastward the sea absorbing, viewing, (nothing but sea and sky)
The tossing waves, the foam, the ships in the distance,
The wild unrest, the snowy, curling caps—that inbound urge and urge of waves,
Seeking the shores forever.
